"Pre-Analytical Sample Processing in Biobanking" - A 3 Day Laboratory Course

 

This 3 day course focuses on the pre-analytic processing of biological samples according to the recently published CEN/TC Technical Specifications for "Molecular in vitro diagnostic examinations - Specifications for pre-examination processes" which are the basis for ISO standards that are currently under development.

 

  • Date: February 8 -10, 2017

 

  • Location: Medical University of Graz, Institute of Pathology, Auenbruggerplatz 25, 8036 Graz, Austria

 

  • Registration between Oct 5 and Nov 29, 2016 (preferred date for registration for organizational reasons).

  • Course Objective:

to provide in-depth theoretical insight and practical experience concerning the pre-analytic processing of biological samples and how sample processing is performed according to recently published CEN/TC Technical Specifications for "Molecular in vitro diagnostic examinations - Specifications for pre-examination processes".

 

Participants will

  • hear about the major preanalytical variables affecting sample quality

  • learn about the new CEN/TC Technical Specifications for "Molecular in vitro diagnostic examinations - Specifications for pre-examination processes" and how to work according to them

  • perform the major pre-analytical steps of sample processing themselves in the laboratory

  • experience in the lab different methods to evaluate sample quality

 

  • Target Group:

MD, PhD, students, and technicians who work or are planning to work in the field of biobanking
